About / Octavian Georgescu

A path across disciplines. A perspective shaped by experience.

From journalism and visual communication to print production, real estate and business operations — a working life shaped by moving between fields and understanding how they connect.

The thinking behind the work

Different fields. A recurring interest in how things come together.

My professional path has never followed a single track. It began in media and journalism, through reporting, research, interviews and television production. That first environment taught me to ask questions, examine information, recognise the human context behind a story and communicate ideas clearly. It also led into advertising and account management, where I worked with briefs, clients, campaign concepts and the process of turning an idea into a message that could reach an audience.

Visual communication brought me closer to the craft and technical side of making things. Graphic design, art direction, desktop publishing, typography, page layout and print preparation required both creative judgement and precision. Working with print production meant understanding specifications, materials, production stages and the practical decisions that connect a design to its final form. Cost analysis within the printing industry added another perspective: estimating, production costing, technical documentation, tender preparation, cost comparisons and the search for more efficient ways to deliver quality work.

Real estate became another substantial field of experience, beginning in 2008. My work has included researching land and property opportunities, assessing locations and potential, promotion and sales support, understanding buyer requirements, maintaining client relationships and helping coordinate the people involved in a property transaction. Over time, I came to see real estate as much more than the exchange of a property. A land or property decision is connected to legal and financial considerations, architecture, construction, infrastructure, services and, ultimately, the needs of the people who will use the place. Seeing those connections is what makes research and facilitation important to the process.

Business and operational roles widened that perspective further. They involved coordinating people and services, recruitment support, logistics and distribution, workflow organisation, cost awareness, process improvement and the evaluation and use of digital tools to make field work and day-to-day operations more manageable. Working close to both management and delivery made it clear that a good idea only becomes useful when the people, processes and practical details around it work together.

Moving between these fields has taught me to translate between different ways of thinking: the editorial need to understand and explain, the designer's attention to form and detail, the commercial discipline of cost and feasibility, the property perspective of place and opportunity, and the operational need to make a system work in practice. I value specialist knowledge and the people who bring it. My own contribution often lies in seeing how different areas relate, recognising what is missing between them and helping move a project from an initial question towards a workable direction.

That is the perspective behind THINK · CREATE · CONNECT. The three pillars give this website its structure: business thinking and ideas; creative work in its many forms; and the initiatives, partners and relationships through which work can connect with the wider world. This is not a chronological CV. It is an introduction to the experiences and ways of thinking that inform the work presented here.
